LOG BUILDING CONSTRUCTION

The construction of log houses and wooden houses is one of the oldest and at the same time the most modern types of construction, which is also evidenced by the awarding of the status of the best new building in 1999 to the Lido recreation complex on Krasta Street.

The characteristic properties and price of log houses are their heat resistance and flexibility.

Compared to other construction materials used in construction, one of the biggest technical advantages of timber is its considerable mechanical strength compared to the relatively low mass.

The thicker the logs, the greater the thermal insulation capacity of the building.

Another positive feature is the thermal insulation of wood. This figure depends on the thickness of the logs. The thicker the logs, the greater the thermal insulation capacity of the building. Scientists have calculated that the thermal resistance of a 200 mm thick wall of a wooden log house is 1.00 m2 K / W, while that of a 510 mm thick wall of silicate bricks (the most commonly used building material in Soviet times) is 0.57 m2 K / W.
